Sheffield Concord v Hull Chevrons at EIS on Sunday 28th February 2010

Concord got off to a great start and got their scoring in early but Hull showed that they were confident shooting from distances and moved the ball quickly but Concord were playing strongly and got a good lead. At the end of the first quarter, Concord were leading 15-6 with strong shooting (71% scored) from both GS & GA. The second quarter was a little tighter with Concord looking a little tired and giving away passes too easily but they managed to keep their noses in front and at half time were winning 24-10 (64% scored). Concord continue to dominate in Q3 with very good defensive marking and solid passing again winning the quarter and now leading 33-12 (75% scored). In the final quarter Concord continued to play consistently but they need to watch for the 3second holding as they were penalised quite heavily for holding. Concord finally won the game 39-20 (60% scored in Q4). Another convincing win for the team.

Sheffield Concord v Huddersfield Giants on Sunday 28th February 2010

This was always going to be one of Concord's tougher matches and that was proven to be a correct assumption right from the start. Both teams started well but Concord's passing in the attacking D lacked quality and Concord were consistently deprived of shots at goal by a very strong Huddersfield defence. Scores at end of Q1 were very close with Concord just edging it 4-3 (80% scored). Q2 continued to be tightly fought with Huddersfield's shooting being faultless with them scoring 100% but Concord held their own and the attacking players were much stronger in this quarter meaning that Concord retained a lead of one at half-time with the score at 14-13 to Concord. Q3 continued in the same vein with strong play from both sides. Concord passed quickly and GA/GS did well only missing 3 shots and scoring the other 5 but Huddersfield were again strong and evened things up at end of Q3 at 19-19. Q4 was very well fought by both teams and we exceedingly close with Huddersfield winning the game by 1 shot 25-24. Concord were very unlucky but played very well considering they had played 2 games in 3.5 hours.
