| An Update from England Netball – Her Majesty The Queen |
| As the country continues to mourn the death of Her Majesty The Queen, we wanted to update you as to how this on-going situation will impact our sport over the coming days. Last week the Government confirmed that netball could continue during this period of national mourning which has enabled our community to come together in a show of unity and remembrance. Thank you for all doing so in a respectful manner. If you have any sessions coming up this week, then we would remind all participants to observe a one minute’s silence before play, and we’d also welcome you to pay your respects in other ways that you see fit be it through the wearing of black armbands or black hair ribbons. You may also be aware that a public bank holiday across the UK has now been approved by His Majesty King Charles for the day of the Queen’s funeral – Monday 19th September. We can confirm that on this day, we will also be asking the entire Netball Family to pause any planned activity, both on and off court, to enable everyone the opportunity to mark the final day of the period of national mourning. England Netball will be closed to enable staff to pay their respects. Thank you for your understanding, and from Tuesday 20th September, we will revert to our regular schedules and programmes. In the immediate aftermath last week, we recommended that non-essential social media activity be paused. It now feels that the time is right to get back online. From today we will be resuming our online presence, including minimal member emails and pared back social content that is both respectful and appropriate. We recommend that if you run any netball social media accounts that you do the same – any factual netball content is absolutely fine to share, whilst remaining sensitive and not overloading channels. Finally, to confirm, our AGM on 17th September at the Crowne Plaza Solihull will be going ahead as planned, with a minute’s silence to open proceedings. We hope this update is helpful, and if you have any questions, please do let us know. Many thanks |
